ABOUT ILLINOIS STATE CLUB BASEBALL

Founded in 2006, Illinois State Club Baseball hosts a fall league open to all and fields a competitive spring team for NCBA competition.

The fall league serves two primary purposes. The first is to act as an extended tryout for the NCBA spring teams.

The second is to provide a competitive baseball league that is open to all Illinois State students. The league typically begins a couple weeks after classes start and runs until weather prohibits play. Players should expect to play around two games per week. Those interested can use the contact tab above to express interest or can look for the Club Baseball table during Festival ISU or the Sports Club Expo on the quad each fall.

The spring team competes as members of NCBA's Great Lakes South Conference. The team is competitive but also a lot of fun.

The season opens a few pre-season tournaments in the fall, with most years hosting our Central Illinois Showdown, then going to the NCBA Battle Creek Blast along with the Duel in the Dells Tournaments. We then play a few conference games in the fall before moving indoors to practice until Winter Break.

Once returning from break, we practice indoors until we kick off our Spring games with a week-long trip to Florida during spring break to compete in NCBA's Spring Training Showcase. Shortly after, conference season begins and usually includes a couple of weekend road trips each year. We hope to qualify for the Regional Tournament every year, with our best finish reaching the Regional Final in Spring 2014 and finishing 12th in the country.

Following 3 years as a program with 2 teams from 2016-2018, the decision was made to refocus as 1 team for financial and competitive purposes.

Now in its 16th year at Illinois State, club baseball has established itself as a fiscally responsible and prominent member of the club athletics scene at Illinois State. 2020 and 2021 brought hard times with COVID cancelling the Spring of 2020 and the whole 2020-2021 seasons but we have fought our way back through strong recruiting and smart financial decisions to get our team active once again.
